Saltwater flies work great in the surf…especially those, like Lee’s flies, whose shape and color matches what occurs naturally at the beach. I like to fish saltwater flies on the Carolina rig with a 24″ leader. Cast in a fan motion and retrieve slowly, quickly and in a stop-and-start motion back toward shore. This is an essential lure for every surf angler.
